Anyone with available rooftop space can install solar panels.
Absolutely! Anyone with 250 units or more of electricity consumption per month will benefit from installing a solar system.
All homeowners and residential electricity users can benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, with subsidies of up to ₹78,000 for rooftop solar installation.
Solar panels only produce electricity when the sun shines. With net metering, you can sell excess electricity to the grid and consume it later.
Solar panels produce a lot of electricity during the day but none at night, while we consume electricity at night as well. TNEB (Tamil Nadu Electricity Board) offers a net metering policy that allows solar electricity producers to generate electricity during the day and consume it at night (import electricity – export of electricity). For example, if you produce 600 units in a month from solar and consume 800 units, your net consumption is 200 units and you will only have to pay the bill for 200 units.
If you produce more electricity then the excess can be used next month for example if you produce 800 units in the month of May and consume only 600 units then you can consume the excess 200 units in the month of June. So in other words You can keep saving units until 31st March after which new billing cycle will start. Each billing cycle is from 1st April to 31st March.
Yes it does produce electricity during rainy days as well but very little.
Yes, anyone can install rooftop solar.
No, net metering is only applicable for residential users.
Commercial electricity consumers can install solar for their daytime usage (8 AM to 4 PM). For example, if you consume 10 units every hour, we can install a 10 kW solar system. During holidays or non-working days, the electricity produced will be sold to the grid at ₹1.37 per unit, and this amount will be deducted from your monthly bill.
No, one solar system can only be installed for one meter. However, you can surrender the meter to the electricity board and combine all loads into one meter.
No, commercial and residential meters cannot be combined. You must have two separate solar systems: one for residential use and one for commercial use.
You can install solar panels up to the sanctioned load of your meter. Most residential meters have a default load of 4 kW, and in some cases, 5 kW.
Yes, you can increase your sanctioned load, but in some cases, the process can be expensive and time-consuming.
Yes, you can install a combined common solar system for all your tenants, along with a private electricity meter for each tenant. If you have both residential and commercial tenants, you will need two separate solar systems: one for residential tenants and one for commercial tenants.
Solar panels come with a 25-year performance warranty, meaning they will retain 80% of their production capacity after 25 years.
No, solar panels require regular maintenance to perform optimally.
We recommend performing maintenance at least once a month. The more frequently it’s done, the better the performance of your solar panels.
